MIERUKA (or implementation of visualization) of work is required in various areas: gObjectives,h gPrecedence/Importance,h gOutput,h gSystem,h gProgress/Speedh and gProductivity.h What is expected in the workplace, when MIERUKA is not realized in each area of work?
gObjectivesh:
When you are simply following the designated procedures without any clear objectives visible (or understood), it may be difficult for you to improve the procedures. In other words, you can neither afford to do any KAIZEN to make the quality of your job better nor appropriately respond to the requirements or environmental conditions of your job.
gPrecedence/Importanceh:
When each one of your working team members makes his/her own selection or decision on the precedence or importance of the given jobs without any clearly visible concept (or shared in the team), some jobs of higher priority given to the team can be left till later.
gOutputh:
When an expected output is not visualized, you may work without any specific definition of the quality of the outcome (tangible/intangible).
gSystemh:
When the system is not visualized, you cannot recognize the imbalanced allocation of the workload and capacity among your team members, and consequently some of you are overloaded while others waste time with nothing to do.
gProgress/Speedh:
When the progress or speed of your job is not visualized, you will never know to what extent you have accomplished your given task. You do not even know whether you can finish your task as planned or whether you should review the time required to do the operation. Consequently you will find only at the eleventh hour whether or not you can meet the requirements in time.
gProductivityh:
When productivity goals are left invisible, you will never know if your KAIZEN measures are effective or not. That means you do haphazardly implement KAIZEN activities, many of which eventually end up in vain, no matter how hard you work.
Given the above-mentioned potential problems to be eliminated, it is indispensable to make various factors of your work visible in realizing an appropriate work management.
